How do I direct message a user?

Hi,

Is it possible to direct message someone? A player left the clan I lead, on good terms, and I want to thank them and let them know they are welcome back anytime. I can understand why DMing could be abused or harassing. The player, that unfortunately had to leave, sent a message to my inbox thanking me, but I am not able to respond.

Is there any way for me to send them a thank you?

The only way to socialise in-game is via clan chat.
