This update is absolutely cooked. I will be trying it out, but I see myself quitting very soon. The second I realized that the generous influx of evo shards were straight up moved from the level up chests, I realized that the team no longer has our best interest in mind. And that TV royale was a complete joke, it was 2 minutes of buzz words and not even 10% of this article was mentioned, not even damn level 16. With card skins looming on the horizon, and them pushing Lucky chests, it’s clear that this game is going down the route of brawl stars, a game so overwhelmed with cosmetics and temporary changes that playing it is just a waste of time. Can’t believe my journey with this game ends like this.

The “compensation” for duplicate heroes is a joke. Absolutely atrocious. That means if I have a level 16 hero card, I could get a duplicate of that hero, and that means I’ll actually waste 120 hero shards for some cosmetic currency. This is awful. This is going to feel like a huge progression setback every time that happens.

Remove the possibility of a duplicate or at least make the compensation worthwhile.

You’ve also replaced books with nothing. I was hopeful that the books will be replaced with an equal or similar amount of cards, but that is a HUGE downgrade.

I like the heroes but I hope you won’t stick with this golden palette for every single character. That uniformity kinda hurts the strong character design your units have. Evolutions have way stronger designs.

When is 2v2 league coming out? And will it look the same as in the past?

So far the update looks really cool, but I still don’t understand how the heroes will be implemented because so far everything looks like the heroes will destroy everything from the face of the earth. Also, doesn’t adding a new character rarity mean that we will change the tournament level from 11 to, for example, 13, like it was with the champions when the tournament level was raised from 9 to 11 because of them?

First impressions on this update is that it looks okay, in terms of progression, but I have some major gripes overall:

Heroes: why? Evolutions were supposed to be the next step, but now we have heroes as well and with the Pass revamp, are Evos just going to be the next abandoned feature? Furthermore, I feel like power creep and just generally the learning curve of the game itself is growing to be a bit much- I think balancing for all this is going to become a nightmare… I just don’t see how this feature is going to be sustainable long term, but I guess we will have to wait and see- personally though, I rolled my eyes at the hero announcement…

EWC-Gem conversion: Alright, I’m bracing myself because I think SC has made the conversion rate horrible and is intentionally withholding the info until the last minute, so that we can’t really do anything about it/ can’t prepare by spending our EWC. I still feel like these tactics are going to end up backfiring in a huge way since a large portion of the playerbase is fairly casual and will just leave once they see how their resources have been drained

Balance Changes: Are they coming next season or no? I do think this meta is overall fairly balanced with the exception of the Royal Ghost Evolution, but there are quite a few cards that need some buffs/reworks like Rune Giant, Little Prince, Goblin Machine, Goblin Giant, Void (which they said they were planning to rework back in AUGUST) and even a lot of bad evolutions like Bomber, Wizard, Goblin Drill, Pekka, Bats, and more. Can you guys give us any info on if balance changes are coming next season?

Economy and TR rework: I’m honestly pretty happy that they are buffing lucky drops and making Lv 16 not so hard to attain, at least compared to lv 15 (but that’s a very low bar to cross), but king tower 16 is going to be VERY hard to get to, which I’m not a fan of since it encourages P2W even more (but it’s Clash Royale so what can we expect…) I also don’t like that players who have pushed past 10k are being completely reset back down to it- at least make it partial, so that there isn’t a punishment for them having played so much

Misc: I don’t really know what to call this section, but I don’t understand SC’s insistence to add new features and constantly rework other ones and neglect the ones that really need reworks, like CW2 and just clans in general- they couldn’t have integrated trade tokens into lucky drops and made it possible to request more/better cards? Challenges also have laughably awful rewards and those also really need a rework, but I guess they’d rather focus on adding shiny (and profitable) new features

Conclusion: It’s funny that this time around, I’m personally not too annoyed about the progression and gameplay changes themselves, and more so the fundamental issues with them, being the moving of the goalposts for long term players in an extreme way and diluting the general gameplay of the game by adding more and more game changing features so that SC can make more $. But that’s just my thoughts and opinions, sorry I ranted for so long :sweat_smile:

Another crappy update. I didn’t expected anything good, but this is nightmare.

Hero is not a new rarity. Like Evolution, they’re a variant, aka “Form” of a card. A Hero Knight’s level is tied to the Knight card’s own level.

So no more evolutions? Pass royale is getting reworked and you get 4x hero shards and there is no way to get evo shards

The ‘Summon a Hero’ random mechanic and the compensation for duplicate heroes are just a joke in poor taste.

For F2P players, it all comes down to Hero Box currency. My bet is that, in the best-case scenario (which is poor), 1-star will give 40 Hero Fragments and 5-star will give 200, so we’ll be able to get at least one ‘summon hero’ per season. For Pro Players and P2W, it will be better to buy heroes in bundle offers and that’s it.

Level 16… what can I say? Greedcell at its peak striking again. At least they’re not dumb enough to do it again during an engagement slump.

Will the gem prices of grand, mega-draft, and classic challenges be remaining the same?

This update is absolute dogshit. Might as well add a new item in shop called “Give us more money.” because that is what you are saying in this update. The game got a spike and became popular again and your first thought was to milk it as much as possible. Half the cards in the game don’t even have EVO yet and you are already introducing a Gacha system, it doesn’t seem like it has a pity system and there is a possibility of getting duplicates. Hope you guys go bankrupt.

Could somebody please tell me when will you able to upgrade your cards into Level 16, is there a requirement? I read today’s posts here and SuperCell as well, and absolutely no clarification as given. I see two options

  1. SC had this one frightening sentence: “Level16 is being added for players who’ve already maxed out their cards” Does this mean that all our cards need to be upgraded to level 15 first, and then only we can upgrade our first level16?

  2. we can upgrade it normally (I wish it were the case, there is no point to max useless cards like elite barbs or xbow)

Please RoyaleAPI if you can give any clarification on this, its much appreciated. I’m exactly at the point where it matters: I only have 7 more cards to upgrade to level15, I could do it as I have 350k EWC, but I would only do it if I need to (as I am F2P, so would need the gems for lvl16 upgrades..). It’s just normal upgrades, nothing else needed. Available as soon as the update drops next Monday

Doing some personal calculation about resources, definitely the main resource now will be gold.

This is just to give an idea of the approximate yearly resources of the mentioned sources below, this is not 100% accurate and mention below all considerations, it kind of compensate that I don’t take into account many sources of cards and gold but also I calculate according to the total required which is not feasible because we are going to have overflowing cards.

Some detailed calculation taking into account only daily lucky chests and pass royale (F2P and Payed), still not counting additional events like clan voyage, special crown events, clan wars, special challenges, donations, trades, ranked or any trophy road.

I repeat take into account all this calculation is if you don’t receive any overflowing card.

I rounded the months that it will take. This is calculated on yearly basis. (4 seasons of 5 weeks and 8 seasons of 4 weeks for Pass Royale. And 365 * 4 Daily Lucky Chests).

Here I also mix tower troops with normal cards. It’s not a precise calculation because I don’t have the completely accurate percentage because some thing in the blog post are round and adds to things like 101%.

Also taking into account you don’t have any WC in your account and not using any gems to upgrade. The resources are according to the max arena 28, with the exception of Gold Crates because I don’t have the real number here I use the last available average numbers for Arena 23 (9K).

You mention that NEW level-up chests will no longer contain evolution shards.

Does this just mean levels 70-90 or does it mean every new level we hit in the future (ie levels 50-90).

Basically, do the free evo shards between king level 50-70 remain or are they being removed?
